The psychologist Dr. Wendelin Winter and his beautiful daughter Alexandra travel together to Sweden. There, Alexandra goes camping while her father is invited by his friend Gunnar Larsson to participate in an elk hunt. The beauty of the surroundings and the building excitement for the hunt are spoilt, though, by the tension running through the hunting party. Among the group is Gunnar’s colleague Malte Hendriksson, who was once married to Gunnar’s sister Helena. And during the first night Gunnar overhears a heated-up discussion between his attractive wife Lisa and Pelle, one of his devoted employees. The following day, as they prepare to set off on their highly anticipated hunt, the group finds their lodge surrounded by angry animal rights activists. The situation rapidly escalates, just barely falling short of a dangerous confrontation. But Winter is shocked the most – his very own daughter is among the demonstrators! Alexandra had met the young and handsome environmentalist Ole and fallen for both the man and his cause… The hunt starts, but Winter, disoriented by his daughter’s behavior, falls behind the group, loses his balance and tumbles into the bushes. As he attempts to collect his wits, he hears the loud report of a gun accompanied by a horrible scream. When he regains the trail he comes across an inanimate body lying on the ground, but as he draws closer to examine the sight, a sudden blow to the back of his head knocks him unconscious to the ground. A short time later, groggily recovering from the attack, Winter is again stunned to discover that the body has disappeared…
