Niklas Siegl runs an upscale jeweler’s shop on the outskirts of Vienna. He is married to Carolin and knows nothing of her prior criminal history. When she introduces her ex-partner in crime Timo Schneider as her cousin, Niklas readily accepts the young man into his home. Carolin and Timo had been jewel thieves until she realized their future prospects were dim. Not long after she left him, Timo was caught and went to jail. Niklas learns of their history together after hiring a private detective. But instead of throwing accusations at the pair, Niklas surprises them with a confession – his shop is bankrupt! Niklas proposes to fake a robbery at the jewelry store, collect the insurance money and split it three ways! Their plan evolves: Timo will kidnap Carolin and blackmail Niklas into turning the alarm off. The scheme works – until Timo, having cleaned out the shop, gets robbed!
